Hello Strategeists,
It's been a long journey and I'm excited to share our first Development Diary. Almost a year ago, we finally felt ready enough to approach a publisher with our game. Unfortunately we were not up to their visual bar in the user interface and 3D map. Tough feedback to hear, but we had to accept it for the gift it truly was. We had to look outside of our core team to find the expertise to address these issues.
3D Map
On the map side of things, Luna and Jake, two technical artists, have made great strides on our 3D presentation. A few highlights:
- actual height in the game
- detail texturing integration
- improved lighting
- fixing splines and retexturing trade routes
2D Interface
On the interface side, we had even deeper problems to address. We had not kept pace with modern developments within the genre. We have undertaken a UI/UX overhaul with the assistance of a fantastic design firm, Auron Studio. We’re expecting to wrap up in the upcoming months. This image is a representation of roughly where we expect our HUD to end up and we are working towards that goal!
The Future
After this, we’ll be working on releasing a demo and continuing to refine the game! If this is something that interests you, please consider joining our discord, and signing up to playtest — we will need a ton more feedback to deliver a great product.
